The fastest reliable solution is not to pour several chemicals into the water at once. Test first, identify the likely cause, restore circulation, and treat the water in a controlled order.
Light algae may improve within one or two days. A heavily contaminated pool may require several days of treatment and filtration.

Clear but tinted water may be related to dissolved metals such as copper or iron, particularly after chemical adjustment or filling from a new water source.
